Workshop #2 | Root Chakra (Survival)

November 13, 2023

For this Healing Workshop, we thought about Survival. We worked with the Root Chakra and started with using the colors red, pink, maroon, burgundy, white and black.

When I think of survival, I think of money, although I know that a lot more goes into surviving than just that. Living the RV life, you become acquainted with all the things you need for comfortable survival… water, shelter, warm food and as my husband says… “the most important thing to have is room in the Black Tank.”

The themes that we discovered through our discussion were:

Recovery from abuse

The blossoming of the Lotus flower

Unconditional Love

Health

Heart

Sanity

Resiliency

Liberation

Freedom

Money

The path vs the process

and the strength of the Statue of Liberty

This piece reminds me of the face of the Statue of Liberty when she was still copper-colored. The red, white and blue colors that emerged indicated to me that Freedom is an important part of survival. The black eye of what appears to be another Phoenix rising from the ashes is a symbol for recovery from abuse - where through domination and control, your freedom and liberty are eroded. The Reiki symbol at the foundation of this piece represents emotional healing.
