Not Sure Who Needs To Hear This, But...

September 5, 2025

While shopping at Enjoy in Andersonville (the spot for all things cute, kitschy and Chicago-style), I found this set of cards called "Not Sure Who Needs To Hear This, But...".

The cards are actually postcards that you can send to someone who is having a rough time, just made a big move, or as validation of their self-work and positivity. As I was thinking of who might need to read these cards, I realized - me! We all need a little encouragement once and a while :)

More about the cards:

“A vibrant collection of 100 postcards featuring affirmations on self-love, inner peace, and healing, from WE THE URBAN founder Willie Greene.

A platform that celebrates self-love, inclusivity, and empowerment, WE THE URBAN shares signature affirmations that have resonated with millions of people, many of whom share posts with friends on social media and use them to guide their personal journeys.

Now, fans can share WE THE URBAN’s magic with this collection of 100 postcards that bring to life the powerful quotes the platform is famous for. Exploring inner peace, self-love, healing, growth, and more, these colorful postcards feature 50 original affirmations, each repeating once, that capture and validate our shared humanity. Whether you’re mailing a postcard to lift the spirits of a loved one or framing one for a daily dose of empowerment, these postcards offer 100 vibrant opportunities to share joy and positivity with someone who needs it.”

From the author:

“Your order of "Not Sure Who Needs To Hear This, But..." is vital to how much it will show up in the world; validating and signaling to the publishing industry that Black authors also deserve a seat at the table. To new readers and the ones who have been here for years, from the deepest wells of my heart, thank you for your support. If you've ever found solace or comfort in any of the words shared on this page, I know this will offer you even more healing.”

Cards for Inspiration

March 4, 2024

When writing the pet-inclusive meditations for ming + ming each week, I draw cards from a variety of decks to inspire the message and imagery. Drawing cards is a great way to speak to our higher-self and to receive guidance on plans and decisions we’ve made.

I not only draw from a Tarot deck , but have mindfulness cards, crystal cards, plant cards and journal-prompt cards from a local artist. There are all kinds of cards to choose from. One deck that I reference online is Patch Tarot.

If you’re new to Tarot cards (like I am) or just want a different perspective to the traditional meanings of the cards, their website and cards are an approachable and enlightened way to start.

We first got into Spirit Science by watching Patch Parables on YouTube. These animated shorts tell stories of old wisdom. Great for kids and adults alike, the Lessons, Parables and toolbox of resources (like the Tarot deck) help to navigate what it means to be spiritual in the modern world.

So while I pull from a Thoth deck for my meditations, I always look up what Patch and the Spirit Science community have to say about the cards. Their interpretation is is a good foundation for guiding and inspiring others.

And if you’d like to experience a reading with a Tarot deck, check out Angel Intentions. Zoe does our forecast each month and is an exceptional resource for Tarot.
