Dancing Around the Maypole

In May, we call in fertility, good fortune and prosperity

I swing from the summer-like end of the pendulum to the opposite polarity that Colorado has to offer. The days start and end with winter’s last bite, softened by the sun’s warmth in the middle. It was much like that on my recent hike to the Red Rocks–the wind whisked around me at the trading post so hard I zipped my puffy jacket to the top. But as we descended into the valley, all that was forgotten. I quickly shed my jacket as the sun beat down in full spring force. Hawthorn trees burst into fragrant white bloom, and prickly desert flowers graced our path. How tough and resilient they were to endure less than ideal conditions, and yet still offer their beauty to the world. May ushers us into a period of more stable sun, a time we can bloom into our radiance. Per Maypole traditions in which multi-colored ribbons are wrapped around a pole on May Day and Beltane, this is a time to harken fertility, prosperity and good fortune. As a collective we entwine our fates, and balance out the polarities of intuitive and active principles in nature to bring out our deepest potential for all to enjoy.

September 2023 forecast

August 31, 2023

Welcome to the September forecast! Happy news–I got published in the Huffington Post about my experience reading tarot at a bar. It has been a lifelong dream as a writer, and I was able to reflect on my growth as a tarot practitioner.

As an ever evolving tarot reader, I am now learning to read the cards in an Espiritista framework. Interpretations combine intuitive Playlisting and imagery from the Marseilles deck.

Though we understand September to be the ninth month of the year, it is named after Septem, meaning seven. This is because September was the seventh month of the ancient Roman calendar. Numerologically speaking, this suggests we will be reaping the rewards of hard work of something we have been working on continually. This also falls in line with reaping the harvest, and the Harvest full moon we are expecting on September 29th. At the same time, we continue to put in the work and direct our will towards a bigger picture goal that has been brewing for even longer. Astrologically speaking, we will be experiencing Mercury Retrograde until September 14th, when there will be a New Moon. Perhaps we will be shedding old patterns of thinking, expression, and boundaries, which will prepare us to better hold space for the incoming harvest at the end of the month.

Energy of the Month: Knight of Pentacles ~Gypsy, cover by Gardens and Villa~

This month, the Knight of Pentacles signifies a return to the true self. We live by the divine spark that guides us, thus externalizing it as the sun. We find ourselves pursuing that which is most natural to us and our true earthly selves. This lifestyle we've chosen fits us like a glove. At this stage in our journey, how we live and what we do is between us and the earth. As though no one is watching, we feel true to live to our authenticity, no longer beholden to external pressures. We know who we are, what we and our inner child are - - and we are willing to protect it as the precious apple of our eye. This enlivens our day to day labors and gives them a purpose. It motivates us and gives us something to go home to. We are willing to do heroic deeds for it.

We are intuitively guided down the yellow brick road to our dreams, which, as we physically manifest to, further informs the direction of our path. In doing so, we are building a path that is made to last. We are willing to protect this dream, this self, and that which gives us pleasure through real tangible actions. Perhaps once there was fear and trepidation in regards to pursuing this path, but this is no longer the case. Love is guiding the way, the kind that makes your inner child, your inner free spirit happy to see. This energy is not coming from a naive space–rather, it is life that arises from decay. We have suffered difficult battles and losses, but became all the wiser and more experienced for it, and found this energy all the more worth fighting for.

Love: The Emperor ~Water your Garden by Magic City Hippies feat maye~

This month, the Emperor guides our values in love–whether we are seeking a relationship or in a long-term partnership. Experience has wizened us and now what we value in a partnership is attentiveness in sunshine or storms. We want a relationship that feels consistent, fertilizing, and that can be relied on through all seasons. We know how to make time go slow around this person. We are confident that you can boost one another to help when there is a sense of stagnation or unsureness of how to grow. We attract goodness and security in relationships, because we are embodying these traits of the Emperor in ourselves. We’ve got this–the ability to find love, embody it, and continue in it. The relationship feels like a comforting place to go to. In the partnership, there is a sense of each person inspiring the qualities of having it together, being organized, standing strong and defined. There is a looking out for one another, endowed with and speaking with a caring intent. This partnership is very grounding and forward looking.

Money: Strength ~Lion by Saint Mesa~

This month in the money sector, Strength us to bring the inner lion out–representative of the innate, wild drive within us. This is the call received by the untamed aspect of our psyche and persona unaffected by societal values. What is that deeper drive lurking within? The idea which excites us most and gets the blood flowing? We have reached a stage where we can work with this aspect of our inner selves without having to overpower or suppress it. From the outside, it may be fearsome to heed this side of the self–the self we are taught to tame, kill, or avoid. But from the lion’s mouth appears the source of our abundance, from which carbon pours forth. And like Midas, our hands, our labor in working with this carbon, are the gold that transforms and transmutes. Our desires have become hardened and refined like diamonds, and made all the more precious from the external pressure put forth on them.

Work: Reverse King of Pentacles ~The Melody of a Fallen Tree by Windsor for the Derby~

This month in the work sector, we are confronted with old traditional work values that are no longer serving us. We are primarily driven by this focus of not losing coin or not having the future taken away from us. But this is more of a feeling than a perception. In looking only to the past however, we are not focusing on our present and we are placing ourselves in a precarious situation. The past way of operating is too heavy to bear and handle. In embodying the reverse King of Pentacles, we take on more than we should. This is unbalancing and not adding security the way that we think it is.

We may be tempted to leap back into an old career or an old job that no longer holds space for our growth and wisdom. The past was a transient dynamic, a fallen tree in a frozen field. What we need to do is place our ear to the ground and listen to the voice within, rooted to nature, ancestral healing, our bodies, and our wisdom. Right now we are operating under a sense of urgency. In pursuing a calling, our hopes and dreams appear to rise and fall. If we don’t understand the cyclical nature of life, this could seem wildly unsettling. Instead of demanding results or a timeline from the thawing soil, we should ask what we can do in order to tend to it. We need patience to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, allowing space for a new chapter, a new tree to arise.

Health: Ace of Pentacles ~First Light by Hozier~

September brings with it a fresh new perspective in respect to health. Each morning is made to feel like a bright new opportunity with which to tackle routine, habits, and goals. We see the untapped potential of what we envision and we are ready now to make it material. In the Virgo season it is also helpful to make detailed plans and routines, and tend to the little details especially at the outset, when we want this new seed of an idea to grow. We are whole and integral, and encouraged to seek what is good for our personal growth, in order to flourish and thrive. We envision ourselves radiating health and a state of wellbeing. Our body becomes the personal sun around which we orbit the rest of our choices and activities. We see a glinting opportunity for ourselves and are encouraged to pursue it. We only have one body, one life, on this one beautiful earth, which makes it all the more precious. We must hold onto it for what it is, and carry it with us always. We are the coin and the piece of gold transmuted by the sun’s warmth. Our body is the most precious thing that allows us to tune into nature, to create, and to experience. While we are in the process of gestation, we can also look to past lives and work with our dreams to inform our path to growth.

Spirit: The World ~Dancing Barefoot by Patti Smith~

In Spirit, we have reached the far end of a long journey to birth ourselves as we truly are, and survived all the tests to make it there in one piece. This is the version of ourselves that is free to dance barefoot–secure in ourselves, connected with the earth, grounded, and thriving. We have worked hard to create beautiful work–ourselves. We deserve to celebrate it and ourselves. The wreath represents victory, and perhaps also serves as a kind of frame we can display that victory in. We are encouraged to celebrate this period, to hang it up, admire it, and share this victory proudly with others. Our spirits that surround and support us celebrate this victory as well. This version of ourselves is the root connection–recognizing the harmony of all suits, and engendering the virtues of the major arcana that precede it. This is our recreated self–the hero or the heroine. This is the version of ourselves that we can say we are proud to have lived by, at the end of it all. We have practiced courage, reason, wisdom and strength. And when we go through another cycle of growth, around the wheel again, we can take all of our capabilities and all we have learned into the next situation.

August Tarot Forecast 2023

August 1, 2023

As an ever evolving tarot reader, I am now learning to read the cards in an Espiritista framework. Interpretations combine intuitive Playlisting and imagery from the Marseilles deck.

Per the Roman calendar we've been following thus far, August, named after Augustus, is the sixth month in the year. He is associated with the imperial cult and the Pax Augusta, in which Rome experienced relative peace with but a few exceptions. His medicine includes working with the Emperor to recognize the inner divine within and entering an era of peace. Numerologically speaking, six is a lunar and cyclical number. It is little surprise that we will be experiencing both a Blue Moon and a Super Moon. August pushes us forward into revisiting old cycles using the moon's intuitive eye and to evolve in doing so. Nor is the Gaelic Lughnasadh to be forgotten–the feast of harvest. This signifies we'll be reaping the rewards of the month prior. August is going to be a transitional period for many, given that we are also experiencing Venus Retrograde in Leo, which asks us to be more deliberate in the areas of romance and finance, as well as Lion's Gate which brings about accelerated transformation.

Energy of the Month: Six of Cups ~Spinning Away by Brian Eno, John Cale~

This month we find connection to the intuitive through a playful exploration of the external. Tap into simplicity through doodling, journaling, or simply stepping out under the stars and admiring their beauty. Enjoy the process of creating, or the great creation itself, in the present moment without a thought to the destination or the outcome. This act of enjoyment can be incredibly healing. To find an activity we truly enjoy, we can reminisce and recreate. Think about how we can recreate positive cycles in our emotional psyche. That which makes us feel stable and supported. That which honors the self, the mirror and the duality.

The Marseilles version of the card recalls a table set with six glasses of wine. To be swirled around and enjoyed in a sensory way. It denotes relaxation, mirthfulness, a night in, and creature comforts. There are six cards in this monthly tarot reading, and a glass is given to each. No matter how the cards are spinning, we are doing okay. We have both come home and become the home that people come to. We can tell stories around the table about past memories and experiences. We are a happy and generous host. Coming back full circle, having a stable sense of home invites play. It invites art, playfulness, nonjudgmental enjoyment, in which we can enjoy the happy little shifts and surprises.

Sit outside under the moon and the stars. Recharge under their light. Work with lunar energy this month. Let her stir the imagination, and stir you through dreams.

Love: Moon ~Dreams by the Cranberries~

Seeing the Moon in the love sector, recalls the wolf and the dog as the couple in question. Perhaps one is a bit more restrained and living in the material realm than the other, but they are both made of the same primal nature and howl under the moon together. Together they can live wild, free and uninhibited dreams together. Free from the walls of societal expectations and constraints, true to the more animalistic parts of the self, and the waters of their lunar psyche. This card showing up in the month of the super moon and the blue moon feels especially fitting and powerful. The Moon showing up in upright position in Venus Retrograde also shows it's not such a scary time - - rather this is a time to get quiet, work with our dreams and go deep.

In love we are not static beings. We are always changing. And our dreams shift along with us as we gain experience. But our needs, wants and desires are impossible to ignore. They cannot be tamed or civilized, they must be born. These dreams want to come to life in manifest reality. When we can meet each other in this way, sharing our truth openly, it feels raw, scary and unknown, but ultimately rewarding. This love with lunar qualities is the love we couldn't find before. Two amazing minds with liberated psyches figure out a path in the dark together. And in howling under the moon together and reaching for each other's dreams, we become a part of each other's dreams.

Money: Reversed Sun ~Gamma Ray by Beck~

This card showing up in reverse position in Venus Retrograde denotes that while in love we are doing well working with lunar qualities, in finance we are not quite assimilated or ready to live out in the sun. Instead of looking to ourselves and feeling confident in the light of our own sun, we look to another to show us how to live. We try to hold onto another person's way of life instead of holding onto something stable that will truly support us. Or we interact with others in a very transactional way because we are operating from a scarcity mentality. Like an Icarus in reverse, a lack of self worth has us suffering under external heat and pressure, instead of staying grounded in the cool waters of our intuition.

When we feel like we're falling, the advice in this card is to hold out for now. Right now it feels like we either have to sacrifice abundance or our true passions. It feels like we cannot have it due to societal structures or other circumstances out of our control. With the latter, we feel unstimulated and wondering what we've lost. We feel stagnant and confined to the backwater. Never once realizing that we are the deadly force the world needs to watch out for. This realization is the key to challenging these perceived obstacles and reconnecting with money in a way that's authentic to the self and allows us to do the work we are meant to do.

Work: Reverse Page of Wands ~ Solar Pilgrim by Twain~

In a reversed position, the Page of Wands is tired of playing the job and career game. They have an ardent will to do things their own way but not the savvy or experience to sustain it in manifest reality. The body is also tired from so much doing and trying. This is the call to recharge and take care of ourselves while we are still healthy. We seem a bit headstrong right now. It is as though we threw ourselves onto a trail with no map and no research, but the simple will to find our own way. Others would run from this situation because the path seems uncertain, and one that would have to be paved for the first time. This is an admirable energy, but perhaps not the most practical as we are doing things the hard way. It feels as though we're embodying a sunken cost energy - we've come so far down this route that we can't just turn around or ask for help now. But what we really want is to get pulled out of and rescued from the situation.

In addition, it looks like the page is stubborn about old ways of being and operating that once worked for them but no longer do or may not even be available anymore. They're not resistant to flexibility and a new way of doing things. .As though to make up for a lack of experience. Perhaps there's also a frustration of there not already being a path being laid out already. Why does there have to be this tiresome practice of learning? Our way of operating in the world feels heavy and unwieldy. We aren't rooting our wand into the earth and intuition, nor working with universal energy, but rather depleting our own will and energy. We will get burned out this way if we keep trying to work it out this way. Perhaps it is time to sit down and take a rest, and regather strength for the journey. It may be helpful to find another hiker on the trail and ask for directions, which would better inform our own path. It is time to retrace our steps.

Health: Reverse Ace of Wands ~Flames by Rey Pila~

Rather than go full force into a new health initiative that we are so eager to jump into, this month we are asked to consider taking a step back to build a stronger foundation for more sustainable action. It seems like right now we are shaking the club (the conduit of our will) in frustration. As though we keep shaking a tree's branch for fruit to no avail. We are yet unaware that there are better tools we could use that would wear us out less, such as a ladder and a basket. We may even feel at the mercy of external forces when things don't go our way.

It is as though we are striking a match repeatedly and getting increasingly frustrated when no spark comes out. Or the flame doesn't catch to the wick and we're at risk of burning ourselves as the flame travels up the match towards us. We're assuming that we are the problem but it is likely a faulty match or box or wick. At this stage the hand's grip on the wand isn't too steady, so the will to keep going could be lost easily if we don't encourage it in little ways. We start wondering if one little match is even enough. Our ambitious spark is precious, so if this is happening we should take a step back and look into how we can better approach these obstacles, as well as the tools at hand. Is there a way to work smarter, not harder? We need to give the situation a bit more breathing time, research, and renewed energy so that the spark can really catch.

Spirit: Page of Swords ~Freedom is Free by Chicano Batman~

As the Page of Swords, we stand firmly in our beliefs with our heads on straight and a sword in our hands. We've had a spiritual awakening - - an aha moment so to speak. We've been able to cut through the programmed societal conditioning and recognize the divinity within self, and nature, and the values of freedom, freedom of speech and belief among other things. We know no one can take that away from us now that we've gotten a hold of these firm values.

We feel unencumbered at this stage of the journey and eager to learn and take on new challenges. We're ready to start the hourglass and begin to delve into the deep and hidden knowledge of nature and fate. As the page, we aren't influencing anyone yet but we have found ourselves. We are sharp students full of ideas to express even if we are still gaining experience. We have lots of theoretical knowledge and what others have done to draw on. We feel equipped and strengthened by ideas. This is an excellent time to start gaining experience by applying our ideas in the manifest world, and engaging with others. This is how we can best refine what we know as it applies to life itself.

July 2023 Tarot Forecast

July 3, 2023

Welcome all to the July tarot forecast for 2023! Below is an energetic reading for the Ahimsa Newsletter group.

Full Moon: July 3rd

New Moon: July 17th

In the modern Julian and Gregorian calendar, July is the 7th month of the year and named after Julius Caesar. Prior to Caesar, this month was called Quintilis, having once been the 5th month of the year. Numerically speaking, this makes July the month of triumphs and struggles. We will be experiencing an arduous journey in areas of struggle, and a sense of flow in areas of accomplishment. Some parts of ourselves will need time to grow, and others will be ready to soar. In regards to Caesar, though he was most notorious for his dictatorship, the Energy of the Month below points to his divine masculine attributes which will rule over the month. In this aspect, he took a populist and egalitarian approach as a ruler. He was also an accomplished author and historian. Given this, we are asked to consider communal wellbeing in addition to our own, and to pursue multiple disciplines that make our hearts sing.

Energy of the Month: King of Pentacles ~Underground by The Underground Youth~

Tool: Grounding, Manifestation Akashic Reading

Through last month’s struggle–the Five of Pentacles–we suffered a crisis and learned to thrive in the darkness and the difficulty. We found there was nothing to fear in the darkness. All we need lies in the subconscious soil of the psyche. We have seen things fall apart and have lived in the darkest spaces. This awakened us, helped us find ways to survive and to radically transform our lives. We pressed our ears to the earth, and heard Our Song.

Our wisdom has reappeared from deep within. It gestated in the darkness and is now shining forth in the manifest world, to create the new. Our strength comes from the underground–a powerful rootedness. Our encounters with the loss of loved ones made us feel as though something had died within us, as though mortality was presenting itself at our own door. This has deeply moved and informed us to pursue a meaningful life while we are here and able. We’ve learned a lot from our ancestors, the earth and death. We are alchemizing this wisdom into aligned action and creating life from it. We find we are resourceful and more than capable of making it.

Love: Judgment ~Start of Something by Voxtrot~

*Inspiration for interpretation of this card: Strange Magic episode

Tool: Speech and the written word, Cosmic Self Akashic Reading

This month, we are experiencing a collective awakening and shift in our approach to love. We are entering a new era in Relationship, in which we can answer the Call to be our authentic true selves. Now is the time to get really clear on who we really are, what our true calling is, and to align ourselves with it. This is the time to articulate our wants and needs to a prospective or current partner. For those of us already in relationships, this is the time to renew an existing love and make adjustments in the relationship. Even small adjustments made in this period have the potential to change the trajectory of our lives. Love is a union of polarities which gives rise to a metamorphosis. We are encouraged to leave a past that no longer serves us, in favor of healing and second chances. In contrast, we are asked to reflect on what within us needs to be resurrected? Is there something we loved about love that has been lying dormant or needs to be expressed? Tying back into the energy of the month, we have gained the wisdom of how we truly want to live. Clearing that which no longer serves us, we can resolve to act differently. We can act out of love and kindness and ask for help when needed. When in doubt, consider what the spirit of love and romance would do?

Money: Reverse 3 of Swords ~All Things End by Hozier~

Inspiration for this interpretation: Tarot of the Holy Light, Between the Worlds episode

Tool: Compassion meditations

In June, we learned heavy practical lessons surrounding money, in terms of scarcity mindset, potential sacrifice, feeling lost and isolated, and disentangling ourselves from fear. This month we are being asked to redefine our relationship with money in a way that sets us free from fear, and come to terms with reality. We’ve become aware of our money wound, which means we might not push against opportunities, project, act out, or try to fill a void. We must also look at the unwanted aspects of a money opportunity–what work will we have to do, or burden will we have to take on?

We are advised that this is not something that can be resolved through the intellect alone. In this space, we want clear cut answers surrounding money that we can resolve readily through a simple yes or no binary, or a “right” way to handle and approach money. This is perhaps because we now have a more realistic understanding of finance that has been tempered by emotional suffering. We feel a burden on our hearts in terms of getting it “right.” We may torment ourselves about not having made all the right choices in investments and expenditures.

To go beyond a limited mental resolution, we must first check in with ourselves. We must ask ourselves the hard questions about our money values, rather than expecting someone else to tell us what those values are. Remember to practice compassion and not perfectionism. Be patient while learning; wisdom cannot be rushed. This is something that is gained through mistakes, suffering, and doing. It’s okay to do our best and begin again.

Work: 8 of Swords ~Ascend and Try Again by Okay Kaya~

Tool: Breathing exercises, Past Lives/Gifts Akashic Readings

In Work, we may feel stuck in a situation that we do not like, due to a psychological block rather than external circumstances. Not only are we struggling in a feedback loop of self doubt and new information we haven’t processed yet, but we feel the pressure to never show pain in this situation. That we must fake it until we make it. If we feel ourselves unable to breathe, it is important to remember we have the ability to step away from our anxiety, take deep breaths, and try again. We are being tested right now in this area of life, but we have multiple opportunities to get this right. Like a repeated mantra, we must remind ourselves that we have the power, wit, grit, and determination to achieve our desired results. Once we overcome this challenge, we emerge with the ability to intuit what we must do per the deeper mysteries and the call of our subconscious psyches.

Health: Reverse Queen of Pentacles ~Black Lagoon by Still Corners~

Inspiration for this interpretation: Between the Worlds episode

Tool: Somatic techniques

The Reverse Queen of Pentacles is showing up in our health to remind us of the notion brought forth by John Donne that “No man is an island.” We are interdependent beings, and the people we surround ourselves with matter. Are the people around us supporting the healthiest versions of ourselves, or are they encouraging disordered behaviors? We want to look at our community  and we are able to thrive physically in it. The Queen of Pentacles also advises us not to be overly concerned with what others think of us, with external validation, or how we fit into societal norms. The shadow of this card plays on our insecurities and gets us to go against our better judgments, but we ought to be looking at our actions from all angles and considering the long term consequences. We do not have to prove anything to anyone else in order to gain a sense of belonging.

What matters most is tuning in with ourselves and honoring our body when it speaks to us. Are we feeding ourselves when we are hungry, resting when we are exhausted, moving when we feel excited, or relaxing when our bodies call for it? When we respond to our bodies’ needs, we find a sustainable path to bodily security, abundance, and rootedness. We must work with the body and health that we have rather than what we wish it could be, and go from there. To achieve this, it is recommended to build a routine and a discipline, though not an overly rigid one. Health is a marathon, not a race.

Spirit: Reverse Two of Cups ~Unknown/Nth by Hozier~

Tool: Boveda, Cosmic Self Akashic Reading

This month the Reverse Two of Cups calls attention to the places where we feel disconnected from spirit. Where do we feel immense distance, in contrast to our intense desire for closeness with the divine? What wounds in our attachment styles are we projecting onto Spirit? Where do we feel let down, betrayed, punished, or misunderstood by Spirit? How is that leading us to subconsciously pull back? If we do not reflect on and resolve this, we may be tempted to pull away from Spirit in order to protect ourselves. But as fallible human beings, there are many things about the highest good for our futures that we cannot know. Regardless, the higher realm does not take our withdrawal personally and is always there for us, with tender divine loving goodness. We may feel that if all of us were truly understood, we would not be able to be loved–but we are in fact known and loved. Keep in mind as well that we can only love and connect with Spirit as much as we do with ourselves. So if we want to cultivate a deeper relationship at this level, we must first look at our relationship within. Can we show up for ourselves in earnest each day? Can we listen to what that little voice of intuition tells us on a daily basis? What can we offer ourselves each day and how can we commune with ourselves? This is what we need to feel more in tune and in connection with the divine.

June Tarot Forecast

June 3, 2023

Full Moon: June 3rd

New Moon: June 18th

Summer Solstice: June 21st

Midsummer: June 24th

June bears witness to the summer solstice, which is the day in the year we experience the most light. This month we can tune into the core practices of Midsummer, a pagan celebration meant to welcome the summer and ensure a successful harvest. These include merriment, cleaning house, and connecting with the flowers. Midsummer Eve in particular, which takes place on June 23rd this year, was seen as a magical time of good fortune and healing.

This month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, who was primarily seen as the divine protectress of marriage and fertility. On an individual level, she was like a female guardian angel; as every man had his genius, the female had her juno. She is a source of inspiration. Ancient etymology suggests her other attributes: to aid and benefit, rejuvenate, and suggests youthfulness, vital force and vigor. She will be watching over us on our journey this month.

Energy of the Month: 5 of Pentacles ~Your Song, cover by Leo Nocentelli~

Tools: Shadow Work, Underground Journey, Dark Feminine

Message: Regardless of your material situation, do not forget “How wonderful life is, now you’re in the world.” Help is there, love is there, connection is there for you.

The Five of Pentacles speaks to the limited beliefs we’ve learned through experience, and how that affects our ability to access abundance in our present. We may feel limited financially, or unable to buy a house–especially in our current economic climate between inflation and high interest rates. We want to look at what offers us comfort and refuge when we struggle with scarcity and hardship. When we strive to find meaning in our difficulties, it helps to turn our spiritual practice, recognizing that we cannot know all or have control over it all. But perhaps we can open ourselves to the notion that on a spiritual and material level there is guidance and support that we are either not aware of, not allowing, or not believing that we have access to. There is a song being sung to us, one we cannot hear. If we can trust that it is there, we may catch wind of the tune and find it is the gift we can turn to, even when we feel a sense of lack.

Love: Queen of Cups ~Amantes by Leon Larregui~

 Tools: Intuition, Divine Feminine

Message: You have the entire universe inside of you, which is worthy of focus and admiration.

We have Juno’s blessing this month in love, and to a lesser extent, Aphrodite’s as well. If we are not currently in a stable relationship, Juno will help us find it by magnifying our intuitive compass and abilities. These abilities can also help guide us in our existing relationships in terms of resolving obstacles and building deeper connections. When embodying Juno energy, we become the peace within war, the firm ground in the storm, and the hearth. The entire universe is held within us, which our partner then admires. The relationship flourishes when our pleasure becomes the focal point. For those of us who are in a stable relationship, Juno will help to rejuvenate our love just like the waxing new moon, so that we are able to feel the brand new excitement we felt at the outset of the relationship. Juno will also help move our relationships forward to the next stage of marriage and fertility for those of us who desire it.

Money: Reverse King of Pentacles ~Ice Machines by The National~

Tools: Future Quantum Self Akashic Reading; Working with Guides, Ancestors, Nature

Message: Communication is the way you can overcome Western isolationism and find a way through uncertainty.

In May, Temperance encouraged us to work on developing a positive mindset, on long-term goals, and to work with our guides and ancestors. In our eagerness to improve our relationship with money, we may have become impatient with the process that was taking place. The reversed King of Pentacles advises us that our intense focus on the coin may set us back in a scarcity mindset. We will either feel we have to sacrifice money to do what is fulfilling to us, or sacrifice what is fulfilling to improve our finances. If we forget about our guides and hastily put on the heavy hat of the King of Pentacles before we are ready, it will feel too cumbersome to bear on our own. The weight of the hat will destabilize us and create further disconnect between us and our guides, to the point where we cannot even hear them. We may resist help or put up a front that we do not need any help, or isolate ourselves out of shame for feeling at a loss. We are advised to find a mentor, consolidate our knowledge and consider what our teachers and ancestors have taught us about wealth and abundance. We can also ask ourselves what the wisest, future parts of us would want for ourselves in this situation, and disentangle ourselves by looking at our fears at all angles.

Money: Queen of Wands ~Proud Mary, cover by Tina Turner~

 Tools: Flow State, Merriment

 Message: Burn proud.

In just a short month, we’ve traveled from the Ace of Wands in May to the Queen of Wands this month in our work sector. Now more than ever, we’ve recognized that work should allow us to actively align with our passions and see the good side of life–not to get stuck in the hamster wheel of never ending capitalist productivity. Juno steps in once again and fires us up with renewed vigor and strength to keep pursuing our passion projects and the work that fulfills us. The wheel of fortune keeps turning, but we feel full confidence in our power, strength, and determination. We do not have to worry about the way things might have been–we are exactly where we are meant to be, passionate and burning with a furious light. When we feel out of sorts in regards to money, we are encouraged to keep “rolling on the river.” When we follow our true path, we will align with those who are happy to compensate us for the gifts we have to offer.

Health: Seven of Wands ~Blessin’ Me- Red Hearse~

Tools: Kitchen Magic, Flower Power, Ritual

Message: You are the medicine you’ve been waiting to be blessed with.

In June, we have faith in the discipline we’ve built through persistent actions and are focusing more on sustainable practices we can maintain to proactively care for our health. We’ve broken out of our former rigidity that stemmed from uncertainty and fears in regards to health, and have received important information that was needed to better understand how to support ourselves. The awareness we’ve gained enhances the enjoyment we now find in the daily practices and habits we use to attend to our mental and physical health. Now it is simply a matter of taking the necessary precautions and acting on what we know feels good and right for our health. This sense of enjoyment in routine and care, as well as seeing how well this lifestyle sustains our passions, is what keeps us motivated throughout the month.

Spirit: Six of Swords ~SE VA by unÁnima~

Tools: Somatic work and self care (massages, baths, aromatherapy that activates the senses, etc.), Cleaning House

Message: Remember that we are being carried where we are meant to be.

In Spirit, the six of swords indicates a difficult transition, one that will ultimately bring us to a positive new chapter. There is a lot that we are being asked to let go of, most likely an old belief system or something weighing heavily on the mind. We are not on our own in this process–Juno is there to aid us, and we will likely be supported by a mentor, therapist, or person who is more experienced in this sphere. Think of this period as an initiation that allows us to be rebirthed with greater power and into a new world. We are advised to do what we can to create a bit of emotional distance from our attachments because whether we want it or not, the older way of life is no longer there for us. Aside from finding new ways of thinking that can help us find a way out, we can also do somatic work and self care to ease the strain being placed on the mind in this time. We were likely forced into this chapter, and may feel a sense of dread and anticipation in regards to it, but we must confront whatever it is that we are being confronted with in order to move forward and heal. It will help to increase awareness and approach the situation with mental clarity, logic, and objectivity. This is a good time to introduce new tools to help manage the situation.

Remember we are not in this alone, and make space for joy and merriment.

Happy summer!

How to Tune in With Your Crystal

June 3, 2023

Disclaimer: This article alludes to crystal healing properties, however they should not be used to cure ailments, diseases, etc. They are meant to be used as a spiritual supplementary tool only.

Want to hone your psychic abilities? Tuning in with your crystal is a great way to get started. Together, we will explore how to practice clairsentience to both divine the healing properties of crystals and feel a connection with them. If we trace its French etymology, we learn that clairsentience means “clear feeling.” This refers to the psychic ability to intuitively pick up subtle feelings and energies. Crystals are thought to have unique healing properties, which makes them the perfect tool to practice clairsentience with. In doing this, we also gain the ability to discern which crystals to buy, and to engage with them once they are in our home.

Before you start: Find a few different types of crystals with a range of healing properties. Since crystals are said to absorb or redirect negative energy, it also helps to cleanse your crystal beforehand, if you are practicing this at home.

  1. Find a Quiet Place to Reflect

The first step is to find a quiet place to reflect, so you can clear distractions and focus on your crystal. At home, you’ll want to get as comfortable as you can and get into a seated position. If you’re in a New Age Crystal shop, this can be a little more challenging to do. In this case, it helps to stand in a remote corner so that you are out of the way of traffic flow.

 2. Decide on a Crystal, and Hold it in your Hand

For this exercise, it helps to focus on one crystal at a time, to avoid getting multiple signals. Let your intuition guide you to a crystal, or simply choose a crystal you feel curious about. Gently place the crystal in the palm of your hand. Get tactile with the crystal–if it is rough, feel its edges. If it is smooth, flip it a few times in your hand and feel it with your thumb.

 3.Clear your Mind

It is best to enter a clear and meditative state, to clear your mind and enter a focused state. If you have intrusive thoughts, simply observe them and let them pass by without judgment.  In this state you will be more likely to accept any intuitive sensations you receive about the crystal.

 4. Close your Eyes

It has been observed that the loss of one sense can enhance another. Vision is often considered the strongest of the physical senses, because humans tend to rely more on it to gain information on their surroundings. Much like with meditation, the idea is to close your eyes so that you shift your focus from physical sensation to internal processes. Closing your eyes may enhance your abilities of psychic perception.

 5. Observe

Now that you have entered the ideal state of mind, it is time to observe. What sensations do you feel, and how are they different from your normal state? Do you feel a sense of calm, a quietude, or a surging sense of confidence? Do your best to define the sensation. It may be a nebulous sensation at first, such as warm or cool, but over time the sensation should become more clear, particularly as you gain more experience. You’ll learn what sensations are associated with different healing properties.

As an added bonus, you can play a guessing game with your crystals. Blindly choose a crystal and try to guess which properties it has based on the sensations that you notice. When you are finished, open your eyes to see if you got it right!

May 2023 Tarot Forecast

May 2, 2023

May is the 3rd month in the Roman calendar we’ve been following thus far. This month is thought to be named after the goddess Maia. She is known to be the most beautiful sister of the Pleiades, and the most timid. Maia symbolizes the concept of growth. The etymology of her name hints at working with our ancestors and that which is larger and greater. Maia is worshiped on May 1st and 15th, which ties in very well with our modern day practice of celebrating Mother’s Day on the 14th. Whether male or female, the strongest energy we can tap into this month is that of the Mother.

Energy of the Month: Reverse Knave of Wands ~Break Me Open by S. Carey~

In April, we received the 9 of cups and birthed a creation that had been in the making for nine months. Our vision became possible in a way that we never knew it would, and manifested into the physical world. This vision is still very much in its infancy and needs a lot of space and continual care in order to grow into fruition. Now that we have reached this goal–where do we go from here?

Like the Knave of Wands, we have a lot of eagerness and aptitude for learning, but its reversed position implies we are not feeling the most confident as students. This has been an arduous journey. It took a lot to get here, and our learning has come at the expense of surviving difficult experiences. We made a hard choice to end an old way of life and an old way of being. This can leave us feeling lost and wondering where to go from here. We may still be looking for the reasons, and fighting past the urge to pick up the pieces. We may feel that we are still falling and stumbling quite a bit. We want so badly to reorient ourselves and find direction and clarity.

Breathe. What we are going through is not a failure. We are breaking open–and this is something we should allow. To quote Brian Andreas: “When you start to crack open, don’t waste a moment gathering your old self into something like you knew before. Let your new self splash like sunlight into every dark place…let all your love spill out into the world.”

Love: Queen of Wands ~First to Love by Maia Friedman~

We have come a long way since last month in our relationship with platonic and romantic love, as well as the love we have for our creations. We’ve not only reopened our hearts to love, but we are proactively pursuing, protecting, and nurturing it. We are waiting for its roots to grow. Though our efforts may take multiple attempts as we head back to brighter skies, we know that will succeed and be okay. We (and our visions) are empowered to be whatever we like, knowing that love will remain by our side. Our eyes no longer flinch from the light.

Money: Temperance ~Guru by Júníus Meyvant~

In this area of life, we benefit most by working with that which is larger and greater than ourselves. This could involve working within a certain religion, with certain deities, and with our guides and ancestors. They will help us release any fears and uncertainties we have, knowing that we will be guided down a divine path that will allow us to be free. The interplay between the divine spirit and the material mundane is what will best bring abundance forward into our realities. A lot of power is given to money as the crux of our existence–the problem and the key. We want to get used to thinking of money as an energetic exchange, and one that works best when we are in a state of open flow. We want to work with patience, purpose, and moderation when we are approaching bigger, long-term goals in regards to our finances. Our guides are reminding us that a middle path is the best approach in spending and saving, and we want these dualities to work together so that we can find a fulfilling lifestyle that benefits our present and our future.

Work: Ace of Wands ~Something Good Can Work- Two Door Cinema Club~

The work we did last month allowed us to fulfill a big milestone and made us realize that now we can be a real player in the field. Last month has given us the stable foundations and this month is all about being a fearless creator and mastering the art of manifesting our internal fire. We are mobilized to make empowered choices and make things happen one action at a time. A lot has changed in terms of who we are in the workplace or what our careers look like. We are the creator that can forge our own path, limited only by our own imagination. This is the time to pursue innovation, passion projects, and taking on more creative roles and tasks. This is where we will excel and these ideas will take off and prosper.

Health: Reverse King of Pentacles ~Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby- Cigarettes after Sex~

Somewhere along the way, we equated health with our routine, the food we eat, the vitamins we take…and we got very rigid with it. It is like we are afraid to stray from the plan, for fear that we will lose a hold of the health that we worked so hard to achieve. As though something could take it away at any moment. Even if we are not in perfect health or something has come along to challenge how we think about our help, it does our bodies no good to live in a fear state. It will only keep the body from doing what it needs to in order to self regulate. Something has made us feel destabilized and it is now more than ever that we need to remember to stick to the middle path–we need not excessively care for our health nor neglect it. We need not throw excessive money at our health nor become stingy with how we invest in it. Nor should we let work and money come at the expense of our health. Health is a form of wealth, but it is not a zero sum game–it is something that can exist in abundance for all. Wherever we are, we should ground ourselves and think about the ways in which we are empowered in health.

Spirit: Reverse Three of Pentacles ~Fisher Island Sound-Beirut~

This month, something is presenting itself as an obstacle to our spiritual growth and learning. It may not feel like there are enough finances to go around for everything that we are envisioning for health and this ripples out into spirit. We may feel quite on our own right now, immersed in a solitary practice and not sure where to go from here when left with only our own resources. This is another area we could benefit from working with a higher power, spirits and guides. They are willing to help guide us towards some answers and reach a breakthrough in our learning. We must also see if there are any internal obstacles within–is there a part of us that is reluctant to move forward on our spiritual path? This is something we will want to look into in order to foster our spiritual gifts and strengthen our motivation.

The strongest flowers are the ones that grow through the cracks.

April 2023 Tarot Forecast

April 4, 2023

April is the month that is eagerly awaited, when the snow melts and the sun begins to bring warmth to our skin. Though spring equinox started in late March, April is the month that truly feels like spring. In the ancient Roman calendar, April is the second month of the year. The name for this month is thought to derive from the Latin word aperire, which means "to open." The ancient Romans may have been referencing plant buds opening around this time of year. Throughout the Gregorian calendar year 2023, we have been preparing to enter a new chapter and make significant shifts in our lives. The first three months were dedicated to cleaning last year’s slate, entering a period of stillness and inner cleansing, and finally taking action under the ruler Mars. April is here to open the way for what is to come.

Energy of the Month: 9 of Cups ~Story to Tell by Ambar Lucid~

We almost completely fulfill the emotional and intuitive cycle that we started in January 2023–from Ace of Cups to the 9 of Cups.  If we expand out to a greater macroscopic view, we see that April has so much more in store for us than it did last year. In April 2022, we had to experience growing pains before we could move forward in life. This year we tap into divine feminine energy to give birth to something new–a dream, a goal, a vision. Likely the divine child we are birthing has been gestating for 9 long months–in September 2022 in fact, the 8 of Cups presented itself.

Our creation had been resting in the waters all these months but we may have felt distanced  somewhere along the way. We may have thought that it died when we were not actively attending to it—that we got interrupted and had to start all over again in January 2023, when our personal growth started to become more publicly apparent. In fact our subconscious psyche has been quietly working on our vision through our dreams and psyche. Now it is ready to be born in the manifest. It wants to see the light of day and be experienced directly. It will be helpful now to think of how we can best embrace this vision into reality. How can we best welcome it into the world? We need to prepare a space for it, nurse it, and care for it avidly for these next few years as it grows into fruition.

Love: Reverse Strength ~When the Lights Go by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs~

Right now our sense of inner strength and confidence is likely hurting, due to a recent negative experience. The reverse Strength card appears to remind us that we need to build ourselves back up and resist coping with destructive habits. We could also be struggling to support a long-term, or a potential partner with a broken heart while they are in this space. Ultimately this is something they must ultimately take the initiative on or they will pull you both down. This is not the time to pretend everything is fine and hold everything tightly inside, or these emotions will burst out at a later time and may even blow up into an explosive fight. Remember that it is not love that hurts us–it is the greatest strength that can be experienced. What hurts us are the painful associations that come with not being able to truly give or receive love–whether that involves deceit, needs that were unable to be met, or playing into our shadow selves. This wound cannot be healed externally by another person however. We need to summon our inner strength and courage to confront these difficult emotions head on, lest they overwhelm us and those who love us. We need to let go of that which no longer is ours, in order to open our hearts to love so we can receive its full healing properties.

Money: Ten of Pentacles ~Orange Blood by Mt. Joy~

The Ten of Pentacles asks us to look into collective wealth as a partnership or a family unit, rather than individual short-term needs. How are we manifesting long-term wealth that sets up family planning or our currently existing family for success? This is the end of an individual cycle and the return to a greater sense of oneness. We are closing up our singular past in order to open up to a shared future. The wealth we are looking to share goes beyond material goods or monetary value. Abundance allows for a relaxed state of mind in which we can let go of our worries, and feel a sense of safety because we are in a stable situation where we get to feel like equals. We release ourselves to a deep sense of peace, contentment, eagerness, love and joy. We are hopeful and feel we are able to plant our tree roots.

Work: 4 of Wands ~Burning Down the House by Talking Heads~

The four of wands appear when our dreams have a stable foundation to manifest into reality. Whether we have aligned with our ideal career path, or found an ideal balance where our work supports our passions, we are where we want to be. This path does not have to be traditional to succeed either– it can be off the beaten path or seem extraordinary to others. We are listening to our inner selves and burning our obstacles away with our actions. We are both on fire and prepared to fire away. Henceforth we will be doing very well in our work and may even feel unstoppable. We are well situated to get what we go after. Embrace this confident energy in work this month and move forward fearlessly. Don’t forget to celebrate each milestone along the way, as this will add positive fuel to the trajectory.

Health: Judgment ~María la Curandera by Natalia Lafourcade~

The Judgment card has shifted from last month’s primary energy to April’s health sector. This energy has stayed with us thanks to acting in our highest good, and we are reminded to keep up the good work in regards to our health. We want to approach health holistically and with a higher consciousness. When we pursue improving or maintaining our health with positive, healthy and constructive ways of thinking, we can be confident that we are building a sustainable practice. This can be in regards to fitness and healthy eating habits, but this also addresses our hearts and our psyches. We are asked to turn to nature’s powerful healing to address internal wounds. This can look like going outside and interacting with nature, using healing herbs, or listening to our intuition. Per the song, we can turn to the fire element to burn our pain into dust. The earth element makes use of the dust, from which flowers can spring. The water element takes on a soothing maternal energy that embraces us and we are asked to receive its love. The wind element blows us healing kisses (or perhaps even blows our obstacles away). And, as one last message, remember always that we are the medicine.

Spirit: Reverse Knave of Swords ~Nerves by Dianna Lopez~

Right now our spirits may be hurting and feeling ungrounded, likely as a result of the reverse Strength energy in our love sector. We are uncertain of how to use our sword–we may even be pointing it at ourselves and hurting ourselves with it. Now is not the time to try to bully our spirits with a tough love approach or to yield to our inner critics. We may be feeling very much on our own as a result of emotional pain, and we find ourselves unable to counter this idea logically. The mind is in a twist and convincing itself that this is true. The solution presents itself in shadow work, addressing trauma, and completing our emotional cycle. Rather than avoid the emotion and therefore allow it to have a perpetual hold on our psyche, we must allow ourselves to fully experience the emotion so that it may pass. We must also learn to challenge our negative thinking, be that with meditation, psychology, or meditation. We can also work with a professional, or turn to others who have our best interests at heart and can help us get out of this bind.

April has much in store for us. We must work through our pain to open our hearts and minds, because that is the only obstacle that remains in this month of spring and abundance. We are on our way. Skies will clear, flowers will come, and our souls will bear fruit.

A musical supplement to this month’s forecast.

March 2023 Tarot Forecast

March 3, 2023

(Marseilles Deck)

If we continue to go by the old Roman calendar that we were following last month, we’ll see that March was the first month of the year. The month was named after the god Mars, who represents the divine masculine active principle. If February was a period of stillness and inner cleansing, March is the month of action. We can think of February as preparation for the deep spring cleaning coming up starting on March 26th. We will be asked to make difficult decisions on a literal and metaphorical level of what to keep and discard in our lives. If there are still areas of uncertainty, now would be a good time to start reflecting or journaling so that we can have greater clarity by the end of the month. We can continue to move forward in other disciplines in the meantime.

Energy of the Month: Judgment ~Black Water - Timbre Timbre~

In February, we practiced inner cleansing and wiped our slates clean in order to wrap up the end of the Roman year. With revived energy, we can start the new year afresh inspired and with redemptive breath. We have relieved ourselves of the weight of the year prior through the practice of forgiveness and can set things right now with levity in our souls. The Judgment card reminds us that in this state, there can be no action that does not derive from inner divinity. Our highest self is born into their most aligned life, without renouncing the lessons of the past. The spirit alchemizes the material into the divine. From this higher residing energy of the month, we can act confidently, knowing that what we do will be in our highest good.

Love: Two of Wands ~Muse - Lucius~

It seems we are meant to receive the exact same message about love that we did last month–the Two of Wands. This month, it speaks to us a little differently. Aside from practicing divine love through external creativity and actions, we are also asked to apply this back to romantic love. In love, we experience an overlapping of two consciousnesses or powers. Both should be on the same team and supporting each other’s highest path. Love asks us to expand as our partner expands, and that love continues to grow when we nurture our interests. We are being asked to expand our horizons in favor of long-term goals, through small but consistent changes in our routines and lives in support of those goals. Inspiration meets action in this card, and we may find ourselves thinking of joint travels, moving, or joining a particular program down the line. What is most important here is that we find divine inspiration in ourselves–as well as that of our partner. Continual exploration is pivotal when encountering the “muse” we find in each other.

Money: Strength ~Strength- Moonchild~

It took willpower to practice inner cleansing last month. This month that energy is continued and embodied in the form of Strength, which prepares us for battle. This card reminds us that we are not merely at the mercy of the Wheel; we can in fact take control of situations. If money is tight or we would like to save more, this card advises us not to get rid of our desires or lower instincts. Rather, we are asked to transmute them. They can be used to motivate us or to help develop our subconscious psyche. Spending too much money on vacations for example can be transmuted into something that motivates us to get through our work day or motivates us to find a higher paying job. It can be a lighthouse that gives us strength to go on through an otherwise Sisyphean lifestyle. Allotting a lot of money for food can be transmuted into taking an interest in healthy foods which then reduces costs in healthcare further down the line.

Work: Reverse Knight of Pentacles ~Short Change Hero - The Heavy~

In work, we will likely be feeling ungrounded and misguided. We may be feeling stuck in a Sisyphean pattern, bored, or distracting ourselves with perfectionism. We are chasing a false sun that does not truly or fully address our inner needs. Likely we started out with higher ideals that degenerated over time and now we simply follow the path because it’s what we already laid out for ourselves. It is time to reevaluate –are we running away from something? Trying to please others? Faking it until we make it? It is time to find an ideal in which we can more suitably ground ourselves at work, and to follow a path updated to our current needs.

Health: Reverse Queen of Pentacles ~Bloodbuzz Ohio - The Nationals~

This month, there is a sense of lack of being able to provide for all our health needs. When it comes to providing all we envision, it is like a coin slipping out of our hands that leaves us feeling ungrounded. This could look like struggling to put enough food on the table, getting all the nutrients we need, or not being able to sign up for a class or trainer that we’ve felt called to. This could look like feeling deterred from seeing a doctor because of high out-of-pocket expenses, and delaying an appointment perpetually even though deep down we know we should not be disregarding the discomfort that our bodies tell us we are in. It may even be a psychological block that keeps us from meeting these needs. Whatever it is, we are asked to confront the issue head on so that we are properly able to care for ourselves the way we know we deserve.

Spirit: Two of Swords ~Pattern Doubt - Young Jesus~

Our spirits will likely struggle greatly at doing a thorough spring cleaning on a literal and metaphorical level. There is a finality involved in letting go of certain things even if we know they are not the best for us, or that we don’t need them anymore. It is one thing to identify what we need to let go of and to put them into a donation box…and quite another to slip them through the donation bin. It is one thing to determine that we need to let go of a connection or a job and cut cords with it…it is another thing to leave entirely. There may be contradictory values like loyalty and freedom for something new that may leave us at an impasse. It will be challenging, but it is work worth doing. Ultimately cutting ourselves free will create the space we need for our divine actions to take hold.

Happy Spring Cleaning!

Simple February Practices

February 18, 2023

I hope you had a good Valentine’s Day loves, for those who practice–be that with another person or in the form of self care. Though the month is halfway through and Valentine’s Day is over, there are still some ways we can harness February energy for the rest of the month. Per this month’s tarot forecast, the primary energies we want to work with are love and inner cleansing. Working with these energies is rooted in ancient practice, which makes them all the more powerful to work with. Let’s look at some modern ways that we can incorporate practice into our daily (perhaps busy) lives.

How can we practice love?

Enhancing love can be as simple as incorporating a few small practices into our daily lives. For example, it doesn’t require a cacao ceremony for us to tune into the cacao's healing energy. We can open our day by intentionally preparing our cacao and thinking of our visions for love, or drink chocolate flavored tea. If we wanted to broaden this out into a morning routine, we could bring out a rose quartz crystal and journal while we sip our cacao or chocolate tea drink. Another small way to enhance our love practice is to open our day with a heart chakra meditation. When starting a new practice, it is more important to incorporate small and sustainable practices than nothing at all.

How can we practice inner cleansing?

February used to be the last month in the year, and was used as an opportunity to spiritually wipe the slate clean before entering the new year which started in the spring. We can consider this month a “pre-spring cleaning” for our souls. One of the most helpful ways to practice inner cleansing is to do a cord-cutting exercise, guided meditation, or guided ASMR session. This can be done once, weekly, or however many times we feel called to do so. In terms of daily practice, a short 5-10 minute daily meditation–be it breathwork, guided, etc—is a great way to practice stillness of the mind. We learn to set aside our issues, if only for the moment, and they begin to release their pervasive hold on us.

During our daily showers, we can imagine the water washing away our negative beliefs about ourselves. Baths are another excellent way to inner cleanse–we can make our own limpia, add a premade mix (Athena’s Candles at Chicago has some floor washes for specific intentions that double as a bath product), or add two pounds of Epsom salt to our baths. If using the premade mix, you can use one half of the bottle for your bath and the other half for cleaning the house. “As without so within” suggests our surrounding environment is reflective of our inner selves, so we can also benefit from a house clearing. While it is recommended to do a deep cleanse of the house first, a simpler way to go about it is to mop with the premade floor wash solution. Personally, I find it difficult to hold an intention silently while cleaning, so putting on positive frequency music is helpful during this exercise. Last but not least, we can smudge the house with incense for an added layer of cleansing.

Even adding one or two small practices to our lives, for a few minutes a day, can make noticeable shifts in our lives. We may find ourselves making breakthroughs in areas where we previously felt stuck. This is the power of inner cleansing. It will be just the clean slate and the inspiration we need before stepping into the next month.

Until March,

February Tarot Forecast

February 5, 2023

In honor of the month of love, I'll be reading with "The Golden Tarot of Klimt" deck. Each card is based on his art, but I've chosen this deck especially for his most famous piece, "The Kiss."  Interestingly in 1908 the art piece was exhibited under the title "Liebespaer," which translates to the lovers. This of course is the tarot card that the art piece represents in this deck. It is perhaps one of the most quintessential representations of complete surrender and acceptance of romantic love's embrace (and symbolically, divine love).

The secondary energy of February is no longer practiced but perhaps can still be felt on an intuitive level. February was the last month of the Roman year. It is named after Februalia, an ancient Roman purification festival that lasted for ten days, to atone for and be purified from the sins of the whole year. It also parallels the Celtic celebration Imbolc, another celebration of purification which marks the beginning of spring. Whether we choose to integrate February as a new end or a beginning, it may be helpful to take inspiration from this practice and "clean house" spiritually.

Energy of the Month: Ace of Cups ~I Promise - Peter Peter~

All our aspirations of love manifest as St. Valentine's Day draws near, a holiday said to originate in an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia. On February 15th, fertility rites were performed partly in honor of the god Faunus (likened to Pan) who is typically depicted as half-goat and half-man. Youth would run about in goatskin, and any woman who was hit by the thong of a sacrificial goat (or dog) was said to become fertile. Though fertility is typically associated with love making, this word also brings to mind the creative fertility of ideas, which are bound to flourish in this month. This is a good month to follow through on any desires to join a creative class, start a new art project, or build up a loving and consistent practice with our craft.

The art portrays a couple in a very classical romantic embrace, reminding us that love at its beginning is exhilarating and full of promise. Everything is new and seen in an optimistic and beautiful light. We are asked to approach love with a youthful lens, towards others, and most importantly ourselves. This may look like taking a rich cacao bath and performing a little ceremony with rose scented incense, or wearing something that makes us feel excited about ourselves. This may look like going on the kind of first date that a younger version of ourselves would have always wanted to go on, or breaking routine completely to go on an adventure within a current partnership.

Love: 2 of Wands ~Für Hildegard Von Bingen - Devendra Banhart~ (Alt: Soul Love, by David Bowie)

Hildegard Von Bingen came forward for me in the form of music, when I had not thought of her in quite some time. I believe it is no coincidence that she is offering herself as an inspiration for this reading. She was a German Benedictine Abbess of many talents born in 1098, as a writer, composer, mystic, medical and botanical writer and practitioner. She received divine visions since she was a small child and can be considered an early feminist icon.

This month we are asked to approach love from a divine perspective, rather than limit ourselves to a mere romantic lens. We are asked to partner ourselves with the divine through visions, dreams, writing, and song. We should keep a dream diary and keep note of any messages that we receive. Moreover, we are asked to engage with what we receive and share it with others–through the creation of art, mandalas, song writing, blogging, singing, and writing. We find hope and healing when we practice and share divinely inspired art and projects.

Money: Reverse 7 of Wands ~(Feels Like) Heaven - Fiction Factory~

On the surface, it feels like a perfect monetary situation is within reach. However, there is still a lot that we are grappling with internally. It seems we are in great conflict with our inner critic, who questions whether we are capable of stepping up to fulfill the opportunities that present themselves. We may feel a lot of anxiety in this regard, and feel like giving up when the circumstances get too overwhelming. Resist the temptation to spiritually bypass this struggle, as this will only cause bigger issues further down the line. We would benefit greatly this month by embracing Februalia energy, and cleansing and absolving ourselves from any regrets or mistakes we feel we’ve made in regards to finances in the last year. Shadow work is needed, and it is important we spend time working through it and acknowledge it so that we may move forward.

Work: Reverse Knave of Swords ~Knights of Cydonia - Muse~

A knight without a vision is an aimless wanderer. Take care not to fall into old patterns, such as applying for a job for the sake of it. Take a step back and determine whether our work choices are serving a greater cause to further our sense of mastery; or the double-edged sword may cut us. We want our intellect to serve us, not the other way around. Contrary to what the modern work ideology would have us think, we do not have to sacrifice all our needs and wellbeing in order to progress in work. We are worth more than martyrdom and how much we can produce. This is yet another area in life in which we could greatly benefit from tuning into the Februalia energy. Those of us who practice new moon rituals are advised to focus on inner cleansing around money and work during this time especially.

Health: Reverse Emperor ~The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana (cover)~

There is a “New Year, New Me” mentality that tempts us to be very controlling with our health, nutrition, and exercise. Ironically, this causes us to be very stressed around our health which raises our cortisol and interferes with the goals we are trying to achieve. There is of course an opposite issue which can arise. When we stumble or we hit a wall, we can just as equally be tempted by letting go completely and losing all sense of discipline. We are at a big crossroads in terms of how we approach our health. Health is another area that is in need of inner cleansing. We want to get very introspective here, be it through journaling, therapy, or other methods. Where have we been too ruthless towards our health and body image, and where do we need to forgive ourselves? Where can we introduce compassion and honor our health in gentler ways? We must clean the slate and foster a healthy mindset, so that we can find stable and sustainable practices that honor our inner selves.

Spirit: Reverse 5 of Chalices ~Just for Now - Imogen Heap~

Our spirit naturally wants to resist difficult setbacks and challenges that seem to obscure our growth. We want to hold our face of grief, horror and shock apart from us. But that which is compartmentalized for our own survival can come as a shock when it inevitably resurfaces. Of course we should be grateful to our coping mechanisms for getting us this far. But February presents a unique universal moment of stillness and inner cleansing so that we can tend to our spirit above all. We seek our own forgiveness in the process of atonement. If we can do that, we can more readily move out of difficult patterns and move forward. We acknowledge our difficult trials and emotions as a part of our history, and rather than fearing that it defines us, we can use it as a helpful tool for growth.

Happy Cleansing!

Lunar New Year Reading

January 20, 2023

Happy Lunar New Year!

What makes the Lunar New Year different from the Western New Year? The Lunar New Year is a Chinese holiday based on a lunisolar calendar. The lunisolar calendar is based on astronomical observations or the sun’s placement and the moon’s phases, as opposed to the Gregorian calendar. The Chinese primarily use the Gregorian calendar, but they still refer to the lunisolar calendar for special holidays.

This year the date falls on January 22nd, 2023. Unlike Western astrology, which cycles through 12 zodiac signs within a year, Eastern astrology dedicates one Zodiac animal to a year. The Chinese system is further specialized into a stem branch system, working with the yin and yang (female and male) principle of each of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. On January 22nd, we begin the Yin Water Rabbit cycle, also known as “the Year of the Black Rabbit.” The black rabbit represents sensitivity, intuition, and a sense of inner peace.

Some say the Lunar New Year is a winter solstice celebration, meant to chase away the darkness with fireworks, lanterns, and candles. According to a legend dating back thousands of years, a terrible beast called Nian was believed to feast on human flesh on New Year’s Day. In addition to fire, he feared the color red and loud noises. Fireworks and red paper decorations were used to scare him away.

Ten days before the Lunar New Year, families clean their homes to allow good luck to enter. Once the Lunar New Year begins, festivities continue for two weeks. For those of us who do not celebrate the holiday, perhaps we can still take inspiration from this special occasion and clean our homes. This will chase out negative and stagnant energy, and allow positive energy and good fortune to enter. The Lunar New Year is also our second chance to get a start on the new year. Perhaps we burned ourselves out by going too hard on our new year goal. Is there a way we can slow the process down, while still honoring our long term goals?

Lunar New Year Reading

A Note: As a Western tarot reader, I have chosen to read with the Starman Tarot Deck, in honor of the recent anniversary of David Bowie’s birth and death. For an authentic Chinese Lunar New Year reading, I’d highly recommend looking into getting an I Ching reading.

The Wheel (reversed)

Song: Changes - David Bowie

The Wheel appears to remind us that all is in a state of ebb and flow. All things are an expression of universe consciousness; it is only the form that changes. This includes the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. It also represents our personality cycling through various facets and personas–all the things that we imagine ourselves to be on our road to self discovery. We cycle through these different representations of ourselves not just in the present but also across time—who we once were, who we might have been and who we will become. We see ourselves and our lives going through a series of evolutions and changes–but deep down there is an unchanging, eternal center of being. We struggle when we try to control, instead of meeting the present with no judgment, nowhere to be, and nothing to do. We can consider ourselves as the character on a stage, subject to a play for which we do not have the script; or we can shift perspectives to the stage in which the play takes place.

The Wheel also reminds us not to be overly attached to the outcome of our fortune. That which seems like a wonderful opportunity, for example a new job or house, may not turn out to be as amazing as we thought it would. Contrary wise, an illness that might seem unfortunate could lead to a revelation about life or a remarkable dream that we can use as the foundation of our next big creative project.

In a reversed position, the Wheel is asking us to slow down and put any new projects on hold. We need to practice introspection and look at our life patterns, which might get us blocked or caught in another cycle that we could avoid. Is our next project truly deserving of all our efforts, passions, and life force? Or will we end up back where we started, as a more burned out version of ourselves? Sometimes we must accept the inevitable and ride the wave. Sometimes the only way out is through.

Remember too that there is value in the yin (female) principle; stillness, introspection, receptive energy. All too often in a Western society we are taught in terms of opposing polarities and binaries; that light is preferable to dark, masculine to feminine, etc. But the spirit of the Wheel is best understood with an Eastern lens. Yin and Yang are both complementary and necessary components of life. One cannot exist without the other.

January Forecast

January 5, 2023

New Energy in 2023

January has a special meaning to us. It is our first foot forward into the New Year. We emerge from intentions we may have set in the Winter Solstice. Days get shorter and we learn to make the most of them. We wrap up 2022 in a celebratory way before ultimately parting ways with it. In some cultures we even burn the old year in a definitive way, to end an old chapter and hearken the new year. It is the first opportunity we get to shed a snake's old skin and either make new goals or rededicate ourselves to our goals, life's purpose, motivations, ambitions, and our true path.

Energy of the Month: Hierophant ~A Letter to my Younger Self-Ambar Lucid~

Recommended tools: Working with the Future Quantum Self in the Akashic Records, Writing a Letter from your Future Self, Visualization exercise

Astrological Correspondence: Creativity, Self-expression, recreation, relationships, offspring

This month, the Hierophant calls on us to embody our future selves in order to shorten the gap between the starting point and our desired goals. Imagine that you are already your most successful self and in the place where you want to be, with all the positive habits and routines that you've developed. Treat yourself the way you would if you were already happy with where you are. Now emulate those helpful habits and routines in your daily life. Perhaps this version of you takes daily vitamins, meal preps, reads half an hour before going to bed every day, and listens to classical music. It is time to start acting as this version of you and follow your own roadway to the success that this version of you already has. Write a kindly letter from your Future Self to the current you, so that you can read it whenever you falter or whenever you need a word of encouragement. This version of you is so compassionate towards you and whats the very best for you.

The Hierophant also calls us to release the attachments that obstruct our path and get in the way of communication with the divine and our future self. We want to become a clean slate, an open cup for divinity to fill and speak to us. Then we can more readily transmit divinity message to us. This is how we can awaken to the power of the divine and our passion for conveying its message. Even if we don't feel like we know it all (in truth,  we never do), we may also step up to teach if a student comes our way or if we feel called to do so. Do not doubt the wisdom you have gained from experiences.

Love: 5 of Pentacles ~Maybe October- Dekker~

Tools: Mirror Work, abundance, "I am enough."

The presiding energy this month in love is: "How can I be exactly what is needed. Maybe another  week, day, or year, I will be better or stronger." We may be feeling particularly lacking in the financial sense. We may be feeling that we are not contributing enough financially or domestically to the relationship. Or we may be wanting a relationship but feeling like we arent in a financially stable enough place to pursue one. We may be comparing ourselves to our partner's contributions and feeling down on ourselves for it.

But if the situation were reversed, we would be supportive of our partner in the same way they would be for us. It's okay to be experiencing setbacks and to accept lovingly given support. It is okay to build up our strength until we can contribute in a way that we would want to. It's okay to build ourselves up to a place to be able enter a relationship too.

Money: Chariot ~Chariot-Page France~

Astrological association: Social Life

Recommended tools: Parts Work (Internal Family Systems)

In money, you are asked to be the Bringer of your own future. To swing your way from dreams to happy endings. This can be accomplished when you achieve unity over your ambivalence. You must overcome the oppositions within, so that you can throw your entire being into the direction of your goals. Through strength of will, you can bring together contrary tendencies and have them work together as a team with you. You can make money the sphere of your personal action. This is the time to choose your financial path and autonomy, to become the triumphant master of your fate. The best way to harness this energy is to work with the Hierophant first, to follow the true path made evident to you when you become receptive to divine will. Without this guidance there is a risk of subjecting yourself to the Wheel of Fortune, but combined with the energy of the Hierophant,  the Chariot becomes unstoppable.

Work: 3 of Wands ~Into the Great Wide Open- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers~

Tools: Flow State, Creativity

In work this month, we have a lot of opportunities for personal development. This is the time for looking ahead, towards growth, expansion and exploration. You have a lot of creative enthusiasm,  and a spontaneous and intense energy. This is the time to seek and embrace enthusiastic work, to create from a State of flow and joy. If you do this, you will tap into relentless motivation. This is a good time to make plans for studies, travel, creative businesses and collaborations. Accept whatever changes life may have brought your way, and think in terms of the big picture. Embrace discovery and learning, and embrace the new. Be bold, have faith, and see you are able to create from this space.

Health: 3 of Swords ~Loveletting-Sons of an Illustrious Father~

Recommended tools: Sacred tear energy, emotional release, trauma-based yoga, reading and learning

Our health this month ties in deeply with our emotional state. We must resolve the our struggles in the emotional sphere so that they do not manifest in the physical sphere. There are many difficult emotions to be dealt with, particularly for those of us who have painful associations from the holidays. The holidays may accentuate grief, for that which we do not have. We may feel isolated in our experiences when we feel surrounded by others who do not share in this difficult experience. In this life we all must at some point experience pain, suffering, loneliness, sorrow, rejection and even betrayal. We must release this energy, and cry out. But we must also be wary of giving into the emotion so fully that we only identify with it and forget to let go and move on. We must accept loss and face reality in order to grow and move on. Growth is what results from pain. We learn how to overcome suffering. We learn through the consequences of our actions. We may also let go of what may have been comfortable but is no longer serving us...but it is necessary to have more rewarding experiences in the future

Spirit: Hermit ~End of Beginning-Djo~

Astrological association: Personal beliefs, philosophy, religion

Recommended tools: Meditation, Solitude, Introspection

The Hermit signifies the end and the beginning. It represents who we are when we enter this world and when we leave it. The Hermit proactively ended the relationship with the old world (and the old year). With this, we can venture into a mysterious future that we have yet to master. The Hierophant serves as a bridge that leads to a known ideal, whereas the Hermit ventures into the unknown. It is the highest mission, birthed from deep crisis. It is a lonely but rewarding path that leads to wisdom, experience, and deep reflection of the path we've led up until this point. This inevitable crisis leads us to the profound change that we seek in our lives, to get to the goals and ideals that we seek to establish in the new year (of which January is a symbol). This step cannot be skipped. But we can choose whether to perish or to be renewed. Faced with nothingness, it is here that we release ourselves from the attachments holding us back. This spiritual pilgrimage is where we can overcome our doubts. We learn how to fight injustice, and we learn of our own errors that have shaped our past. This will teach us the prudence that we need when creating our own futures.

A blessed New Year to you all on this path. ✨️

Holiday Tarot Forecast

November 18, 2022

Hello dear community.

This past month, I've done my best to practice what I preach and granted myself compassion. A loss occurred in the family and I was unable to bring myself to write November's forecast. I hope you all have been well, and if not, that you have been taking care of yourselves. One of the hardest lessons we can learn is to give ourselves the grace that we would give others. For some of us, December will be an exciting month full of holiday celebrations. For others, it can be a painful reminder of who or what we no longer have. No matter where you are, I send big hugs. I hope you enjoy the Thanksgiving and December general reading below.

Energy of the Month: Ace of Pentacles ~Money by the Drums~

This is the month to recognize and step into your role as creator. Envision all your dreams, goals and ideals in their fullest detail. Now, envision what it might take to support that lifestyle, by means of your own creations and actions. It should be something that brings you a sense of wholeness and supports, rather than diminishes, your will. How can you exercise greater power over your life? If things are less than ideal, it is perfectly fine to start from scratch (from square one) at any time.

Love: Reverse Devil ~Lost in Yesterday by Tame Impala~ ~Bad Habits by eydrey~

In order to start from scratch, it is important to cultivate the skill of letting something go. This is not to say we have to throw an entire relationship away if something is not working out (this would be a last resort solution to turn to only if there is no other way to protect and honor yourself and your needs). Rather, we are looking to let go of unhealthy attachments or habits in order to make a breakthrough. Perhaps in a relationship you find yourself turning to escapist tendencies such as drinking, smoking, or other outlets in order to avoid having real conversations about needing to uphold certain boundaries or to avoid expressing things that you are afraid to delve into with your partner (or yourself!) The key here is not judge yourself harshly for your tendencies but rather to have heartfelt compassion for the root of your shadows. It is important to have our shadows accepted and understood, for to be human is to be flawed. Nevertheless, if we want to be free then we should look into where we are feeling tied or bound, and seek this opportunity to bring positive change by seeking habits that are helpful for your inner psyche. If you can detach from dependence on these tendencies, you can find greater joy in intentional habits and activities. Cord cutting is a helpful exercise to get you started, as well as meditation.

Money: 8 of Wands ~new body rhumba by LCD Soundsystem~

By what means can you achieve the energy of the month, that is, the manifestation of the coin? What actions will you take in order to achieve mastery of finances and to accomplish your ideal life and lifestyle? This is the month to dislodge yourself from belief systems that keep you stuck in regards to money. Taking new actions could lead you in new directions. Follow your passions and make them come alive. Enter a state of flow and purposeful direction. Lean into your work ethic and grit that makes realities come alive.

Work: 10 of Wands ~Indian Summer by the Doors~

Find the work that you love best (better than all the rest). This isn't a naive and immature love, but one that you've developed throughout seasons of hardship. It's the passion you always had, deeping deep within your heart. The rediscovery and self-excavation that you've had over the years only to find what you've had all along. The fire within is the work that you want to commit to, the work that will sustain you again and again. It makes you feel complete because it lights you up and animates you in a way that nothing else could. It is that which, if you looked upon the totality of your life, you would proudly say was your life's work.

Health: The Empress ~Feeling Good by Nina Simone~

This month you act as the Empress in your approach to and embodiment of health. You will be called to take actions towards increasing your health (this could be enrolling in a gym, starting a new routine, making healthier meals, joining a coop, etc). You'll also be looking to nurture your health. For example, you may feel like making comforting soups, bundling yourself up, drinking warm healthy teas, and getting plenty of sleep. Another energy that will come forward is to come up with an intellectual plan and approach to reach your health ambitions. This could involve drawing up a new routine and finding ways to track your progress, keeping a health log or diary, looking at numbers such as how many reps or sets you want to reach, etc. You'll also want to look for ways that you can prioritize some of your finances towards health, for example shifting some of your budget so you can take on a monthly subscription, hire a personal trainer, or join a gym class. All these aspects within yourself will be called to work together in a caring way to promote your healthiest, happiest self.

Spirit: Justice ~Respect by Aretha Franklin~

Your spirit feels fulfilled by the energy of Justice. This is the side of you that recognizes the law of balance, and that for every action there is a consequence. There is an element of fairness here which you seek in taking into account both sides of a story, but also an element of accountability. Your intuition is strong this month in regards to Justice. Your feet are firmly grounded, your head is held high, and your eyes are clear. Your heart is strong and protected. It is balanced by intellectual decision making. Your conscience is clear and you are confident in your choices. Justice is your domain. You have acquired a mastery of making cuts, protecting boundaries, of expression, and making the right calls.

Just as each moon is an opportunity to enter a new cycle, each month represents its own cycle. The month of December is a wonderful opportunity to clear out any harmful habits and end the year on a strong, clean note. You can restructure habits and ways you support yourself with refreshed energy and zeal. You have a strong hold of your vision and now you can take new actions to create that which you envision. The energy you create in December will carry you into the new year, and you'll be able to start 2023 with a strong, healthy energy.

Blessings,

October 2022 Forecast

October 2, 2022

October calls, her orange eye peering in on us through the Hunter's Moon. The dark things usually hidden within and without are now sought and seen. We have a unique opportunity to tune into our shadow, mirror, and divine self. As the veil thins, our psychic sensibilities will increase. This is a particularly good time to look out for signs from our ancestors, to pay our respects and commune with them.

It is in this light I break away from the usual Marseilles deck and try a new deck. I'll be using Lo Scarabeo's Ars Notoria cards, based off the esoteric Hebrew understanding of angels. They guide this fully upright reading with their unique message. Though this is a general reading, it is no coincidence each of us is receiving it.

Energy of the Month: 8 of Wands ~Angel: Nith-Haiah~

Our primary form of psychic contact this month is through the realm of dreams. Pay extra heed to dreams of schools, libraries, bookstores, or any other settings associated with learning. These dreams are likely to be Akashic in nature, and hold seeds of source consciousness wisdom for us to explore. Also pay heed to messages in dreams relayed by ancestors and departed loved ones. Lucid dreaming can be a good way to initiate these kinds of dreams as well. Before bed, use dim lighting or candles for enhanced dreamwork. Ideas and inspiration acquired through the muse of dream (Angel Nith-Haiah), are ones that want to become manifest in their own time. Follow the fire, the pulse, the will to create. Ideas move through you when you rest within the infinite.

Love: The Moon ~Angel: Haheuiah~

The Moon is the mother who reaches out and pulls you up from the darkness. She is the illumination in the night sky. She is the full moon's orange eye, watching over you, speaking to you in dreams and intuitions. Though specters, ghouls and monsters haunt our psyche--we are protected in that they are restricted to the psyche before they are allowed to manifest into the external realm. We have an opportunity to transmute that which haunts us or seeks to drown us, into a source of ideas, images, and inspiration that we can draw from anytime. In transmutation we find salvation.

Money: King of Cups ~Angel: Aladiah~

In money, the King of Cups encourages us to use divine masculine qualities to promote divine feminine ideals. This entails taking external actions such as setting up action plans and enforcing them in order to ensure that an emotionally fulfilling intuitive lifestyle comes to fruition. This emotional balance will foster stable success and abundance. In addition, Angel Aladiah's energy will render our spirits innocent without requiring us to repent or change anything about ourselves. As long as we are willing to learn and don't repeatedly return to harmful old patterns in relation to money, we will expand in a way that honors concord between the polarities of our being such as the head and the heart.

Work: Five of Cups ~Angel: Yeialel~

In the work environment, we are challenged by negative emotions that threaten to hold sway over us. We have to decide whether we identify ourselves with these temporal emotions, or whether we can use them to inform us of needs and boundaries. Angel Yeialel helps us to filter these emotions as a catalyst rather than being controlled by them. Used as a catalyst, these intense emotions can help us find talent, sincerity, energy, healing, and passions in our work.

Health: Hanged Man ~Angel: Nemamiah~

September 2022 - Tarot Forecast

September 7, 2022

Welcome to September. School is in session--we are the students and life is the beneficent teacher. This month will come with all of the resulting benefits and challenges that Virgo energies can bring. One of our biggest challenges will be our inner perfectionism and a fighting of our natural flow to get ourselves to fit an external standard. If we can embrace imperfection, we can reach our ideals in a loving, sustainable, and ultimately more successful manner.

Included in the general reading is a suggested "back to school" playlist. If you resonate with the readings, I'd recommend looking up the lyrics to these songs as a supplementary tool.

Energy of the month: 8 of Cups ~All is full of Love: Bjork~

The overall energy for the month of September is that of mastery of love. How can love require mastery? Ordinarily, love is experienced as a state of natural flow. When we lose touch with that flow, we find that love and intuition are inherent skills that must be relearned. The lessons learned and integrated over our lifetimes join forces this month so that we can find our way back to this inherent skill with ease. Where there is water energy, flow, intuition, and receptivity; we find love. To tune into this energy, we can drink water that we infuse with feelings of love and/or appreciation, or bring our bodies into a large natural body of water. This can help remind us we are enveloped in love and fill ourselves with it (including that which we consider "imperfect.") We can tune into a supportive network, and find groups that help us reach a state of flow (in regards to a passion or reaching a "flow state.")

Love: Reverse Knight of Pentacles ~Feels Like We Only Go Backwards: Tame Impala~

On the reverse side of the hourglass, we find the challenge we must learn to navigate in order to reach this mastery of love. If we remove external standards, values, and external metrics which determine how much we are "allowed" to love ourselves; we can feel at a loss and ungrounded. Many of us find we have been following a false sun, and acting upon it. This false sun can be a value such as money, how much of it we have...and we may have followed it until we have forgotten why we followed it in the first place. Our ego's will believes it knows best and it can forcefully steer us in a practical or worthy direction...but perhaps it is our intuition that really knows how to lead it in the way. What direction would it take us if we stopped forcing it to go the other way? Where can you be more receptive to love? Where can you let it flow more naturally, instead of fighting your way upstream? There may be a more authentic guiding principle at hand here. Now is the time to be a receptive "knight," guided by receptive inspirations rather than tugging at the reins.

Money: Page of Wands ~Ready to Start: Arcade Fire~

Ironically, we may find ourselves better financially endowed when we are willing to step down from our Ego's "knight" status, allow ourselves to become a page (or apprentice) once more, and begin to walk the other way. We find steadier footing stepping in the bed of our intuition and allowing our passion (life purpose) guide us, as a walking stick would guide the blind. We can then alchemize and materialize our dream into reality, one that could sustain us. There is power in drawing from the ground (that which is natural)--it is like a lightning rod in reverse that powers us up from the deep bowels of the earth. There is wealth, in more ways than one, in pursuing this route.

Work: 5 of Swords ~Perfectly Out of Place: Dreams We've Had~

At work, you hesitate to voice any authentic opinions of yours that may go against the grain of the environment that you're in. You may be feeling like the unstable factor in an otherwise uniform and seemingly stable environment. This external reality is a reflection of some of the growing pains to be learned in the mastery of love. What parts of yourself feel unacceptable or irreconcilable? What are those parts trying to do or say for you? What can you do to come to an understanding of and appreciation of those parts? These parts may have been waiting for you to approach them for a very long time. Practice compassion towards these parts; rather than a thorn in your side, there is something worthy here of being integrated in harmony with the rest of your being.

Health: Chariot ~Love My Way: Psychedelic Furs~

You are in an empowered position where you are in control of your health decisions and the direction you want to take in favor of your health. All of you is working in harmony and working as a team to prioritize your health. It is the common goal that all parts of you can agree on. Use this as a focus point whenever you need to tune back into the energy of the month. This includes polarities such as eastern and western practices, receptive and active approaches towards heath, spirit and will etc. You are able to take a holistic approach and take all of yourself into consideration: past, present, and future.

Spirit: 9 of Wands ~Harvest Moon:  Lord Huron (cover of Neil Young)~

In this ninth month of the year, in the transition from summer to autumn, we have at last reached the harvest month. It's a good time to assess what the harvest has brought in. You've built a steady web of support around your passions and purpose. You may also find that some harvest is wanting--in which case, where within you lies resistance to the self operating in harmony with the infinite? Renewing efforts in your passion and purpose is one way that you can express the flow of love within. September is a good month to commit to a class, routine, project, or group that helps keep you committed and focused on the external expression of love. If you get stuck, turn back to receptivity of imperfection, a commitment to the process rather than the end goal itself. Ironically, you can achieve more when you let go of the outcome and instead keep moving forward in the ways that call.

August Forecast

August 3, 2022

Happy August! How is everyone feeling coming out of the recent Leo new moon? Personally, it helped me release a lot of blockage and some of the things I was overthinking about. The Leo energy also helped me vocalize what it was I wanted to bring into my experience. I hope it was a positive experience for you! Included this time are some optional mixed media recommendations that could lend more insight or interaction with the energy of the card I pulled. Read below for a general reading for what to expect in August 2022.

Energy of the Month: Reverse 7 of Pentacles (Spark Joy ~ book by Marie Kondo)

This month we're being asked to play the role of metaphorical gardener and take a higher perspective to see which creations ("plants") of ours need pruning. Some of the newer plants that we've been caring for have parts that are wilting or drying up, and we will be asked to sacrifice those parts in order to save the life of the plant. Naturally as the gardener who watched over this our new creation lovingly, we may feel a sense of attachment to every part of it and feel discouraged by what feels like a setback or failure. We may not want to acknowledge it and want to leave the lengthy vines as they are. There is an opportunity here however-to pare our vision down to its truest form, and to use some of the plant to propagate new ones that we can share with our friends and family.

Love: Page of Cups (Rewrite Your Story through the Eyes of Love ~ Lavendaire Lifestyle Podcast Episode 2)

This is a lovely card to come up in a love reading. In this part of our journey, we feel a youthful energy in love, as if rediscovering it all over again. We are finding our footing and grounding each step of the way. We've removed our thinking cap and are now seeing through the eyes of love. We progress on the alchemical journey of life through the balance of male and female principles, and create something lush and in harmony with our nature. We walk with golden shoes, moving ever closer to spiritual richness through love.

Money: 5 of Wands (Fig Tree ~ poem by Sylvia Plath)

In money, we are feeling stuck in a crossroads because of the paths we may miss out on or have missed out on by choosing one path over another. We are caught in the center of the hourglass and preventing the sand from passing through for as long as we can, but inevitably time will move forward whether we'd like that to be the case or not. How can we make peace with where we are now, rather than looking at where we could have done better?

Work: Reverse King of Pentacles (The Gifts of Imperfection ~ Brene Brown)

We are experiencing resistance and a desire to control our work path, perhaps in response to finances or a perception of finances. We are feeling guarded and wanting to use a domineering masculine force to control the work experience, and it is not grounded in intuition. We are looking a lot to the past to inform our work experience rather than looking forward with a vision towards what would work for the future.

Health: 9 of Cups (Habitica - Mobile App)

In health we are feeling that our cups are filled. We feel satisfaction towards the path we've chosen to increase a sense of health in our lives, and the effect that it's had on us. Perhaps we've surrounded ourselves with a healthy community, improved a routine, or focused on self care in the past months. This month we can readily acknowledge the rewards and benefits that we've experienced in health as a result of our own actions. We are here because of all the ways that we keep showing up for ourselves!

Spirit: 6 of Pentacles (Shine on You Crazy Diamond ~ song by Pink Floyd)

Our spirit this month is strong and we can grow a lot by looking into the mirror of our creation. If this does not look like what was intended--remember that nevertheless you are a powerful creator who manifested it into your reality. This month we are supported and empowered in spirit through strength, love and health. We are resilient beings who have overcome so much--and our spirit shines all the brighter in overcoming that. This month we are able to stand strong in the truth of who we are; we can both reach out when we are needing encouragement and inspiration and in turn are able to give that energy back out.

Until Next!

July Monthly Forecast 2022

July 6, 2022

Greetings from Sedona! This spiritual hub and "new age mecca" has become my home very recently and it was exciting to see how living a ten minute walk from an energy vortex really opened up (and sped up) my channeling ability for this monthly forecast. I hope to have more experiences to share with you in the future. In the meantime, I hope the upcoming full moon and month overall prove to be fruitful for you all. Read below for a general reading for what energies to expect in July 2022.

Energy of the Month:Reverse 4 of cups ~More Than This (Roxy Music)~

The pursuit of new chapters gives rise to some destabilization, unsteadiness, and a need to find footing again. With every new endeavor we leave that which was familiar and well understood, and we tread to a place that was beyond our comfort zone. Without which, how could we ever explore new horizons?

Nevertheless, what was once an abstract ideal from afar has now become a reality to contend with. This can put us in a place of doubt, uncertainty, and a feeling of lack of emotional grounding. It is especially important now more than ever to reach out to your support network, who will remind you of all your past accomplishments and the trials you’ve overcome, so that you can put this sense of destabilization into a higher perspective. This is the first stage of integrating your new reality, and there will be some unsteady footing before you regain confidence through immersion and gaining deeper understanding of what you manifested and put intentions towards in June.

Love: 8 of cups ~Love is all you need (Beatles)~

Though there may be emotional and intuitive uncertainty within, remember that you have an infinite wealth of love to tap into in the form of your support network. Our mind can often trick us into thinking that we are having an isolated experience, that we alone are not measuring up somehow. In reality, we are part of a multiplicity and we are all in this together. Cosmically, the network around you is keeping you well balanced as you dive into this new cycle. When you are stuck in a loop of your own thoughts, go out and interact, dance, and rejoice with your community when you seek rejuvenation and need to fill your cup. You have nourished this “garden” network and can feel joy, pride, and accomplishment here.

Money: Reverse 4 of Pentacles ~You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones)~

Tight finances as a result of new pursuits are likely a part of the emotional instability felt in our overall energy for the month. We find ourselves wondering - Was the price worth it? Did I unsettle and unground my sense of financial well being too much in favor of the new influx? If we get sucked into this spiral of thinking we can find ourselves feeling a depletion of hope, faith and courage. We may feel that we didn’t appreciate our previous state of being (even if it was imperfect), and that we shouldn’t have left that safe point of existence.

At least from an emotional/validation standpoint, you will be able to “get by with a little help from your friends.” You will need to be replenished financially, fortunately work will help replenish this area of life and take care of your basic necessities. “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you find, you get what you need.”

Work: Temperance ~Stay High (Brittany Howard)~

For those of us who feel a calling to pursue spiritual work or works of service towards others, this month is the opportune month to put that into action. Where we find imbalance in areas of life, we can find it in work- the Universe is working to bring balance in your career in both the practical, material and active needs with emotional, spiritual, and inner journey needs. Alchemy and integration can be found in work this month, and we find grounding in the pursuit of enlightenment (flowing from head to foot) and honoring our soul. These energies that we normally think of as dualistic and in opposition flow between each other and inform and strengthen the other. Be open to a higher calling.

Health: Reverse Magician ~Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) (Kate Bush)~

The energy of this month can lead to us feeling overwhelmed–like we are dividing ourselves between trying to succeed in all the elements of life at once. When we try to do it all we end up dropping the ball. When this happens we can judge ourselves too harshly and feel like we are not measuring up. It is better to slow down and focus on one thing at a time, keeping in mind our passions and what we are fighting for at the forefront. We tend to feel alone, unsupported and ungrounded when we get buried under the “to do list.” If we take it too far we can even physically manifest this as a fever, headaches, recurring nightmares, dissociation, and a sense that everything has been turned on its head. We will need to take a step back and reach out to others to support you (listening to your favorite music will also help). Rather than comparing where we are to the end result, we must be kind to ourselves when taking the steps to get there.

We may feel constrained, isolated, and removed for others. We may be seeking a psychic connection to others. We may get stuck in past failures that keep us from drawing on the present and on our more newly learned resources. If we can face our past and come to terms with ourselves and our past mistakes, we can regain our power.

Spirit: Priestess ~Claire de Lune (Debussy)~

This is a good month to channel your inner priestess- whether this is through intuitive, Akashic, and/or academic learning, as directed by your inner curiosity. Your spirit this month finds nourishment and validation through gaining a deeper understanding of your choices and your surroundings. You’ll be able to determine your actions wisely once this understanding is gained and you’ll have a clear vision (locking into the higher, deeper, inner truth). You will gain the most this month from reading, learning, studying spiritually, and recording  and analyzing dreams. This will help balance out any unease or feeling like a struggling apprentice that we experience in other areas of life. Learning leads to success.

Thanks!

Zoe

June's Monthly Forecast

June 7, 2022

This month, on June 21st, we welcome the summer solstice. This is a great time to emulate the light of the soul and align yourself with solar existence. We've mobilized ourselves in May to pursue our ideas, and in June we are now seeing the results of that mobilization. Take joy in all that we have generated for ourselves.

Below is a reading for the collective--enjoy!

Energy of the Month- 9 of Wands

The nine of wands brings attention to the aspects of your life journey that are self-made. You've worked hard these past few months to create a life in the light of your mind's eye. This month you will finally get to see the results of this creation unfold, and get to reap the rewards of all your hard work. Everything you've made shines in the full splendor of the sun. We seldom allow ourselves space to celebrate what we've achieved--we often feel the need to be more, or do more, or that we're not "there" yet. Allow yourself to feel the energy of success, of having arrived to where you've envisioned--a place you would never have imagined yourself in the past. Enjoy the fire and the splendor of your own making.

Love- Page of Swords

This month we find grounding in love through the element of air-as represented by the swords. We feel steadiness and stability when we employ and improve our communication skills and our expression of boundaries. Are each of us fully honoring the "I" in the relationship? What parts of our individual expression can we better honor that would bring greater ultimate happiness in the pursuit of love?

Money- Six of Wands

This month, you can find financial success by means of the wands. What this means is that you can pursue a passion, an inner spark that drives you forward in life, and you will be rewarded for this pursuit in a financial sense. Your passion is needed and wanted in this world, and there are many who are drawn to work done with passion and soul. It is a burning light in a world that would otherwise be damp, dull, and devoid of life. With one candle you can light many others, so be sure to transmit as much light as you can (and create an effect where others pass it on as well).

Work- Reverse Two of Pentacles

It seems there is an aspect of work that could serve in opposition to the card above. Take care not to burn yourself out this month by taking on too many extra projects or tasks. That could take away from the energy that you would otherwise be going towards fueling your passion. Take a step back to look at what elements of work are taking over other elements of life--where working for the sake of productivity might be bringing in diminishing returns.

Health- Knight of Wands

It looks like our grounding, stability, and health are all positively regenerated most this month by furthering the positive energy of the wands. What can you proactively pursue or do in order to honor your inner spark, that would also reward your mental and holistic health? Is there a form of body movement that you could do that would also address a passion--perhaps outdoor yoga, hiking, swimming, or even riding horses?

Spirit- Reverse Seven of Pentacles

It looks like in spite of our high potential for manifestation and the pursuit of our passions--in Spirit there is an aspect of our past self and existence that is resisting the new reality that we've created for ourselves. Perhaps we feel that fire will burn bright and fast--rather than keep a steady flame. We are not fully integrating or stepping into our new chapter even as it unfolds before us--though it will help once we see that this new reality is stable. There is spiritual wealth all around you in this bright month, if we can bring ourselves to a state of acceptance. We may need to practice compassion and grounding for us to fully integrate the reality we've brought into being. Remind yourself that you are worthy of lasting joy and contentment, and find grounding activities to help you tune into that energy.

Thanks!

May Forecast

May 4, 2022

Hello lovelies,

April's gestation period has released its hold on us. As mandrake, our heads emerged first; the body followed. In April, we were asked to stay still while closing old chapters and finalizing our ideas for our futures. In May, we find ourselves completely above ground and fully mobilized to charge into the new chapter with our fully formulated ideas in mind.

As always, the forecast below is a general reading for what we need to be hearing as a collective. Enjoy!

Energy for this Month: Knight of Swords ~ Warrior bee~

Now that April's chapter has been closed, we are being called now to act on our well formulated alchemized thoughts that we formed during our prior gestation period. Our head is on our shoulders and we can trust what we are directly receiving. We are currently in direct transmission with the divine, in terms of our intellectual and logical inspiration, as well as our communication.

This month we are inspired to pierce through any obstacles. We are inspired to launch forth and actualize our ideas into the material realm. As the Knight of Swords, we are embodying a forward looking, visionary energy and we are fully seated in our intuition. Our intellectual ideas are augmented by working with our spiritual compass. While it is tempting to keep our eye on the prize, it is important to remember that we can reap gold through the journey, not just the destination. There is a wealth of mental enlightenment to be had on the yellow brick road.

Love: Seven of Wands ~Sunflower~

This month in love we have the full power of the sun behind us. The potential for unconditional love is in full bloom if we look to where we can find constancy, harmony and peace within and without. Rather than feeling subject to the cyclical ups and downs, the "love me, love me nots," where can we find peace in the divine Eternal? Just as the sunflower, we can reach to the Sun of divine eternal love to nourish us. We are empowered to transmute harmful energies into a field of gold. When we feel isolated from the divine experience, like the sunflowers we can turn to each other and lend each other our light. We are in the right place this month to receive and accept this kind of love.

Money: Five of Swords ~Scarecrow~

In the realm of money, we are like Dorothy and the Scarecrow seeking out the wonderful Wizard of Oz. Because, because, because of the wonderful things he does. We are feeling impacted by inflation and the current financial market--and it feels like all we can do with the resources we have available to power through and create or sustain an ideal lifestyle. We seem to be holding our breaths and waiting for a mystical Oz to resolve the situation. We want to magically arrive at the other side and skip the growing pains that the economic ecosystem is forcing upon us. We are sending out an SOS to someone or some future beyond us to get us past this limitation.

But we have to keep growing, persisting, and practicing with the sword in our hands. We want to know what we could do "if we only had X knowledge or X personal connection that we do not have." However we have to keep overcoming one obstacle at a time in our overall quest, to sharpen our confidence in our navigation abilities and that which we seek to become. It will be a slow and steady journey but we will ultimately reach the goal we are envisioning.

Work: Five of Cups ~Tin Man~

If with money we felt like the Scarecrow, than with work we feel like the Tin Man. We are being asked to strengthen our relationship with the heart center when it comes to progressing in our work goals. This is where we need to work to stay seated in our intuition. When we first entered the work force, we started with a lot of heart even if we were naive or did not have a lot of experience. Realistic experience has adapted our initial ideals, but we should still honor the core values we started out with. Rather than becoming hardened by our experiences and turning into a Tin Man, we should seek to maintain our heart and our courage. Even now, we don't know what lies ahead--the surprises, wisdoms and obstacles that are in store. Follow the yellow brick road and let your silver shoes lead you one step at a time. You have more power than you know.

Health: Star ~Witch of the North~

This month we have the star's protection. She has a cooling kiss on our foreheads that brings us peace and hope. We are being asked to step in sync with the flow of life, and with healing earth energy. We find grounding in Earth, and healing in her fertile waters. When we sync in with this energy, we know we are on the right path. The Mother of all is our hope, our guardian and we are in her care. However, she does not make the journey for you--you must choose to align with her.

Spirit: Reverse 7 of swords ~Dorothy returned from Oz~

In Spirit, it is hard to remember we are the hero on a divine journey; as we are bound to a mortal life on an earthly realm. We are humbled by the human experience, and as such we may struggle to recall that we are an empowered knight on a mythic quest. We are like Dorothy who has experienced our magical abilities in Oz... but after enough time in Kansas those memories begin to fade and it feels like it was all a dream. We must hold onto the memories of our higher self and our higher abilities, and integrate them back into our daily lives.

Thanks!

April 2022 Monthly Forecast Reading

April 4, 2022

Happy Spring Everyone! Below is a general tarot energy reading for our spring healing. For those of us who have experienced dormant winter months, this is the month where we will undergo some spring cleaning and April Showers (to give way to May flowers). This is the clearing, freshness, and vibrancy that we've been waiting for.

Energy this Month

Five of Pentacles

~Plant Energy: Mandrake~

This month we are very much a mandrake - we feel rooted in the earth and we are experiencing some growing pains. We want to spring forward into our new active life, but we still have some remaining work and growth to do this month before we can go out and about. There may be some remaining stillness and setbacks this month that could be frustrating to us -- but this is just the last burst of growth that we will be needing to close any old chapters before we can enter the new one. We feel all too human, and are reminded of our human limitations and joys. This month is asking us to find enjoyment where we are --while we are where we are.

Love

Ten of Wands

~Plant Energy: Kaffir Lily~

Our understanding of the ideal approach to and within relationships is coming to a closing of a complete cycle. We created this ideal at an earlier phase of our lives and April will show us how far that has taken us up until this point. Perhaps you had ideal traits you were looking for within a partner, or an ideal shared lifestyle with your partner. Either way, we will have a new found realization that is aligned with a new understanding of our relationship with the Divine. The old chapter is about to close, and we are about to grow beyond anything we had previously imagined for ourselves--which will be even more aligned with our highest good than we had imagined. We should still integrate all the positives we have learned thus far--like a mighty bundle of arrows, these integrated lessons will bring strength and fortitude into our next love chapter.

Money

Four of Swords

~Plant energy: Blue Columbine Flower~

If we return to the metaphor of the mandrake, our head, i.e. our seat of logic and intellect, is above ground in April (whereas our heart is getting ready to emerge from gestation, and bloom into something new). Hence, financially, we will benefit most from leaning into our intellect, our connections, and our interpersonal skills. We are sharp-witted individuals, whose ancestors have survived and passed on their resiliency to us. We have sharpened our wits and our communication this far, which in itself is an accomplishment. Now we are being encouraged to take healthy risks regarding our future visions surrounding money. Find a small supportive network, or lean into the one you have, to gain ideas, understandings, and opportunities from one another. You have a clear vision of your aspirations and where you want to ascend to--now is the time to start that which will help you step into your financial future.

Work

Four of Swords

~Plant: Blue Flax Lily~

In our work, we have learned what makes a stronger, more sustainable foundation to support our life passion and inner spark. We can trust basing our decisions on this wisdom fully. Work that brings us wholeness and stability will provide the space for the freedom and growth that we want. We will find ourselves wanting to devote and commit ourselves to the work that sustains this powerful vision. Follow the fires of passion, and mature into the individual you want to be--the you that fulfills your unique life purpose.

Health

Queen of Pentacles

~Energy: Queen Bee, honeycomb~

This is the month we can harness your "Queen Bee" energy, in regards to our health. We can trust that we have built the right foundations for our spiritual and bodily grounding. We are a strong, gentle governor of our personal health, and we can be confident that whatever we hold in our mind's eye in regards to our health will bring us to the right place. We can follow our impulses to try life's sweetness. Our thoughts and visions take a healthy root in our minds and bodies, and will create the perfect honeycomb to support our health. We find strength this month in family, unity, and warmth. If we are able, we can get our family and/or community involved in healthy activities, healthy eating, and healthy lifestyles.

Spirit

Reverse Justice

~Plant: Live Oak Tree~

In Spirit, the place we may still be holding ourselves back in is "Justice." Have we stepped into acceptance of what we are fully worthy of and deserve? Are we hesitating in any area to make the necessary cuts (think spring cleaning, and Marie Kondo energy) with the last chapter of our lives? Where can we find the grounding, strength and stability that would support and keep us steady in the new chapter? How can we help our inner "Mandrake" fully emerge from the ground that is holding us?

This month, we are being called to open our third eye to see what we need to cut what binds us--this may take a level of honesty that we may be uncomfortable with. There may be some heaviness in our hearts that we want to alleviate in the areas that we can control. Once we are able to master and harness the Justice energy--we are able to govern our lives the way we see fit in our mind's eye.

Good luck fellow "Mandrakes"!
